In 1992, Kathryn Inkinen parlayed years of professional experience in the field of human resources management into the formation of Inkinen & Associates. In July, 2018 Kathy turned over the helm of Inkinen & Associates to Ben Ancheta, who is now President. She will remain active in the company as Founder/Advisor and continue to employ her impressive credentials and exceptional skill set to ensure the delivery of superior services to clients of all sizes. Her professional background includes serving as the top human resource executive for a bank and at a five-star resort hotel. She holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration from the University of Hawaii at Manoa with a major in Travel Industry Management and is a past inductee to the College of Business Administration’s Alumni Hall of Honor. Kathy’s commitment to the success of her clients has resulted in a loyal and expanding base of clients who count on her to carry out executive placement services effectively and discreetly.
Throughout her career, Kathy has made giving back to our community a top priority, serving on boards of several community organizations. Past and present Board appointments: Red Cross-Hawaii Chapter, the University of Hawaii’s Travel Industry Management Alumni Association, the American Lung Association’s Lung Force, Women Corporate Directors, the Japanese Chamber of Commerce, Better Business Bureau, Chamber of Commerce of Hawaii, HEMIC, School to Work Executive Council, UCERA and the Japanese Women’s Society Foundation. She is a lifetime member of the University of Hawaii Alumni Association, the YWCA of Hawaii and the Japanese Cultural Center of Hawaii. In 2017, Kathy was awarded Alumni of the Year from Farrington High School and Small Business of the Year Award from Hawaii Business Magazine.
Ben joined Inkinen & Associates in 2018 as president.
A graduate of Kamehameha Schools – Kapalama, Ben attended Carleton College in Northfield, Minnesota, where he earned a BA in Economics. Ben worked for Deloitte as a management consultant in the US, Europe and Asia, before attending The Anderson School at UCLA and graduating with an MBA. After working for a variety of startup and high-growth companies, he returned to Hawaii in 2007. Since then, he has served in a variety of executive roles at ProService Hawaii, ‘ike, and ‘Ekahi Health System, and was president and founder of Huliau Capital.
Ben has been recognized for leadership and commitment to his community. He was named a Pacific Century Fellow in 2010, an Omidyar Fellow in 2012, and one of Hawaii Business Magazine’s 20 for the Next 20 in 2013. Ben invests a great deal of time volunteering for community organizations. Ben sits on the boards of Hospice Hawaii and KCAA Preschools, and serves as a member of the State of Hawaii’s Information Technology Steering Committee.
As a senior consultant of the firm, Ann Katekaru’s vast experience in executive recruitment and human resources benefits clients on a daily basis. She joined Inkinen & Associates in 1998 and has more than 30 years of Human Resources management experience in the financial, real estate and health care industries. Prior to joining the firm, she was the Senior Vice President of Human Resources for Bank of America in Hawaii. Ann received her Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration from the University of Hawaii at Manoa and earned a professional designation as Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR). She is a Certified Representative in the use and administration of the Professional Dynametrics Program™, a personal styles profiling tool supporting employee development applications.
Ann is an active member of the community and re-joined the Board of Directors for the Society of Human Resource Management (SHRM) Hawaii Chapter. Previously, Ann served for more than 10 years on this Board. She co-chairs the Workforce Development Committee and is also a member of the SHRM National organization. Ann is also involved as a member of the Human Resources and Education Committee for the Retail Merchants of Hawaii and the University of Hawaii Alumni Association. She has been a past Director of the University Clinical Education and Research Associates, past Trustee of the Oceanic Institute, and past Examiner for the Hawaii State Award of Excellence. Ann’s own passion for excellence continues to help to advance the field of human resources in Hawaii.
Having a passion for people and helping them find their calling is what Melody calls, “Aces in their Places”. With nearly 20 years of Human Resources management experience, Melody brings an enthusiasm for executive search and placement to the team. Melody has extensive HR generalist experience at both large and small firms, both locally and nationally. Her core expertise includes employee relations, on-boarding/recruiting, benefits management, payroll/HRIS, project management and coaching & development. Additionally, a trained analyst in the use of the Predictive Index (PI) System; a science based assessment tool which provides managers with accurate, actionable data quantifying the drive of employees.
Prior to joining Inkinen & Associates, Melody held the position of Executive Team Leader, Team Relations for Target Corporation in Boulder, Colorado. She was also the Director of Human Resources for TeamPraxis, LLC and most recently the Director of Human Resources at Roberts Hawaii Inc. Melody earned a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Business Administration from the University of Northern Colorado with an emphasis in Sales & Marketing and Speech Communication. She is also a member of the Society of Human Resources. In her spare time, Melody enjoys volunteering with her children’s school and sports teams, is active with the PFA and enjoys traveling.
The opportunity of living and working overseas, as well as in several U.S. cities, has greatly influenced Hilda Min’s career. Hilda brings over 13 years of direct executive recruitment experience for a variety of positions in a wide range of industries. She returned home to Hawaii last year after working for several executive search companies in Singapore, Maryland, Virginia, and Florida. By working in different locales, Hilda has gained expertise to understand varied company cultures and environments which has further enhanced her search capabilities. Earlier in her career, Hilda worked for Westin Ilikai Hotel, Hotel Hana-Maui, and the National Restaurant Association (Chicago), and also possesses direct hotel operations experience.
Hilda received her Bachelor of Business Administration from the University of Hawaii, with emphasis in Travel Industry Management and Human Resources. Since her return, her community activities have focused on alumni association and church. While overseas, she was involved in a multitude of association and community service organizations and hopes to continue to expand her activities and service to local organizations.
Cameron Brokaw brings over 17 years of sales, marketing, and account management experience within large global companies, as well as start-ups in Silicon Valley. His background includes managing B2B sales teams, managing integrated online marketing campaigns, overseeing technical solution implementation for B2B customers & overall excellent client management. Prior to joining the team, Cameron successfully managed AT&T’s Small Business Division as the Regional Sales Manager overseeing the Hawaiian Islands.
Cameron graduated from Santa Clara University with a BS in Operations & Management Information Systems. When not working, Cameron enjoys spending time with his wife & son. He is an active board member at his son’s school St. Clement’s, and also assists with coaching his various sports teams.
Kaeo brings to Inkinen & Associates current Human Resources knowledge. He graduated from the University of Hawaii, Shidler College of Business with a BA in Management and Human Resources. He also pursued and obtained a Masters Degree in Human Resources from the Shidler College of Business. His work experience complements his education. He was a Human Resources intern at New York Life recruiting talent for the insurance company. He then moved to ProService, a large PEO as an HR Associate where he worked with many companies in a variety of industries assisting them in on-boarding new employees while learning employee relations, labor laws pertaining to employment and HRIS.
Now at Inkinen & Associates Kaeo will be able to translate his experience and education in attracting top talent for companies as well as introducing career opportunities to candidates.
Outside of work, Kaeo is a member of the Mens Island Soccer Organization (MISO) on Oahu. He would like to participate with more non-profit organizations to become more involved in giving back to the community.
Brandon has joined Inkinen & Associates as the Marketing Intern. He will be responsible for marketing operations as well as some administration roles, such as weekly e-newsletters, social media, job postings and public relations as well as other marketing special projects.
Brandon is currently a Senior at Hawaii Pacific University and will be graduating in 2019 with a Bachelors of Business Administration with a concentration in Marketing. He is set on becoming a marketing director in the future and is dedicated and hopeful to achieve this goal. He moved to Hawaii for school in 2015 and has since then expanded his knowledge in the business world, especially with marketing. In his free time, he enjoys working out, going to the beach, and exploring the island.
Inkinen & Associates partners with Remedy Intelligent Staffing to provide the advantage of full-service staffing to employers. Remedy is a staffing company with close to 25 years of experience conducting business in Hawaii. The local franchise was re-established in 2001 by Kristi Inkinen Yanagihara. The Honolulu office employs six additional internal staff to assist clients and associates.
